We are Licensed, Bonded, and Insured For Your Protection!
Being "licensed," "bonded," and “insured” may be more important than you thought. Be careful in your transport company selection process and ask a potential shipper for proof. In fact, ask as many questions as you can…your protection and peace of mind depend on it.
What does it mean to be “Licensed?”
In order to be licensed, a state agency must legally recognize the business as an entity. What most boat owners do not realize is that there are multiple licenses one must receive in order to be considered a fully licensed shipper. Most, if not every business, is required to be licensed with the city and state for tax purposes. Most states require shippers to obtain a license, usually states, cities, and municipalities have strict requirements to obtain a license.
What does it mean to be “Bonded?”
Bonding is another form of protection for the boat owner. Essentially, bonding gives boat owners the opportunity to be reimbursed for non-performance by a service provider.
What does it mean to be “Insured?”
Insurance works much like car insurance…if there is an accident the insurance company will pay to fix it. What is important to know is that just because a potential shipper says they are insured doesn’t mean they have every type of insurance they should, and/or proper limits.
